Foster Care Appeals & Variances

The responsibilities of the Alternative Care Unit include reconsideration of a child in care who has been removed from a foster home, cancellation of foster homes and variances to foster home licences.

It is the right of a foster parent to appeal the removal of a child from their foster home. As well, it is the right of a foster parent to appeal the cancellation of their foster home licence. A foster care applicant has the right to appeal the refusal to license their home.

It is also the responsibility of the Southern First Nations Network of Care to assess all variances requested by an Agency to amend a foster home licence.
